James loves to play! Always and everywhere does he want to play. He loves playing together with you, but he is also very good in playing alone. The most funny thing about playing is pretending that someone can have your toy, but at the moment he or she wants to take it, you just run away quickly with a wagging tail! Next to this, playing is accompanied by a lot of growling and shaking of the toy. James absolutely loves it and noises are part of playing, according to him. James does have a sound for everything. Sometimes it seems like he's telling you something and I can hear what he means because of the particular sound he makes. Whenever he hears something in the yard and goes out to see what it is, he always comes back telling me what's out there! Even though James always plays very roughly with his toys, nothing has been destroyed yet. All his toys are complete and his puppytoys are already two years old. He even has a few toys which belonged to our previous dog, wirehaired dachshund Sam. Those toys are more than ten years old, but they all are still in good shape. James is gek op spelen! Altijd is hij in voor een spelletje. Het liefst speelt hij samen met iemand, maar ook alleen kan hij zich gelukkig prima vermaken. Het allerleukst van spelen is het uitdagen; net doen alsof iemand je speeltje mag pakken en dan snel weglopen als ze het bijna te pakken hebben. Daarnaast wordt er hard gegromd en wordt het speeltje vakkundig door elkaar geschud! Prachtig vindt James het, geluid hoort bij spelen, vind hij. James heeft een geluid voor alles. Soms lijkt het alsof hij me vertelt wat er aan de hand is, en aan zijn bepaalde geluidjes kan ik horen wat hij bedoelt. Als hij bijvoorbeeld in de tuin is en hij hoort iets, komt hij altijd naar binnen om mij te vertellen wat er aan de hand is. Hij kijkt me dan aan en verteld met wat speciale piepjes dat er bijvoorbeeld een hond voorbij liep, of dat er een fietser langs kwam! Alhoewel James altijd heel ruw met een speeltje speelt, heeft hij nog nooit iets kapot gemaakt. Al zijn speeltjes zijn nog heel en ook zijn puppyspeeltjes gaan alweer twee jaar mee. Ik heb zelfs nog een aantal speeltjes van Sam de teckel, onze vorige hond. Die zijn inmiddels ruim tien jaar oud, maar doen het nog steeds! Op dit filmpje speelt James met de piepkip, een van zijn favorieten!
