About James

About James

James was born on June 6, 2009. He comes out of a litter of nine and his parents are Ch. Waggerland At All Times & Ch. Floatin' Cyntaf in Blue. James is a brindle pointed tricolor with minimal brindle markings.

Character

James is a happy, fun-loving dog. As a true Cardigan, he is very active and wants to be involved in everything. He loves to be with you, wherever you are. He is not so much of a cuddler, but he loves to lay on your feet or next to you on the couch. James is a very easy-going dog; you can take him anywhere. He adapts to everything. He loves to be the center of attention and knows how to get it too! He has a big will-to-please and loves to work for you; he really needs a job. James likes other people, but I am most important for him. Other dogs are fun, he likes to play with almost every dog, in particular females, no matter how big they are. He still has much herding instinct, but listens very well. He loves to be outside in the yard, no matter how cold it is, but will come inside just to be with me. He is very loyal. James always gives 200% instead of just 100%. He doesn't know the middle of the road, he is very, very fanatic in everything he does. James doesn't like a boring life, he really needs something to do, not only physically, but also mentally!

Activities

James needs a job. He is a true herding dog and he's very active. I feel that dogs need to exercise daily; not just a stroll in the neighborhood, but real exercise, meaning off-leash (of course, only where it's safe). So, James and I make a long off-leash walk everyday, no matter how bad the weather is. Mostly, we go to the forest and to the beach, where he can run free. Our daily walks vary from one to two hours. We live at the edge of the forest, so next to this long walk, we also take three shorter walks through the forest, approximately twenty minutes each, but also off-leash. He's almost never leashed nowadays, but can do it very well when needed. Every week, we follow obedience training. James absolutely loves it! He is very good and loves to practice. We train on competition level and compete in obedience trials. We practice almost everyday at home; we train completely positive and use the clicker. Once in a while, we go to a workshop to discover new sports and to see what James likes. This can be anything, from frisbee to herding to agility. So far, we have followed the following workshops: herding sheep, agility, obedience, frisbee, flyball, rally, nosework, retrieving, combisports, treibball, circle training, and canine freestyle. James loves to be busy!
