Lost something?

James found a lost slipper this morning at the beach. It drifted in the sea, all by itself, and James soon realized that it was a nice new toy! I made a short video of him playing, have fun watching!

National show in Saarbrücken

Monday, May 28, the national dogshow in Saarbrücken, Germany, was held. After our Best of Breed win the previous day, we hoped we could make it a back-to-back win! I entered James in champions class again and the competition was exactly the same as the day before. James did a great job again, moving better than the day before, and gaining 1 excellent and CAC again. Could he do it again? Yes, he could! James won a back-to-back BOB under breed specialist mr. Frankenberger (DE)! He also won the title Saarbrückensieger '12 with this win. He gave James the following report: excellent built male with a masculine, strong skull, good eye color, good pigmentation, breed typical expression, excellent forechest, good topline and underline, correct front, moves good behind, friendly character, excellent presentation, CAC, BOB, Saarbrückensieger '12! I'm very very proud of my little black Cardigan, our weekend couldn't have been any better!

Maandag 28 mei 2012 werd de nationale show in Saarbrücken gehouden. Na onze Beste van het Ras overwinning de vorige dag hoopten we dat we dit nog een keer konden doen! Ik had James weer ingeschreven in de kampioensklasse en de competitie was precies hetzelfde als de dag ervoor. James deed het weer erg goed, hij liep zelfs beter dan de vorige dag, en kreeg weer 1 uitmuntend en CAC. Kon hij het nog een keer doen? Ja, hij kon dat! James won twee dagen op een rij BOB, dit keer onder rasspecialist dhr. Frankenberger (DE)! Hij won ook de titel Saarbrückensieger '12 met deze overwinning. Hij gaf James het volgende keurrapport: uitmuntend gebouwde reu met een mannelijke, sterke schedel, goede oogkleur, goede pigmentering, rastypische uitdrukking, uitmuntende voorborst, goede boven- en onderbelijning, correct front, beweegt netjes achter, vriendelijk karakter, uitmuntend gepresenteerd, CAC, BOB, Saarbrückensieger '12! Ik ben erg trots op mijn kleine zwarte Cardigan, ons weekend kon niet beter!

International dogshow in Saarbrücken

Sunday, May 27, it was time for the international dogshow in Saarbrücken, Germany. James and I traveled the previous day to our hotel because it was a 5-hour drive. We shared a car and a hotel room with Daniëlle and her Australian Shepherd Maylo (Tearaway's Fire and Ice). We stayed in Mercure Hotel Saarbrücken Süd, which was located only five minutes from the show complex. We had a great stay in this dogfriendly hotel! So, on Sunday were were judged in the afternoon. James was entered in champions class and did his best. He gained 1 excellent, CAC, CACIB and became Best of Breed under judge mrs. Molinari (P)! With this win, James gained the title Saarlandsieger '12! She gave him the following report: excellent type, correct head, could have darker eyes, excellent overall line, correct depth of chest, excellent topline, well set tail, very sound mover, CAC, CACIB, BOB, Saarlandsieger '12! We had a fantastic first day!

Zondag 27 mei 2012 was het tijd voor de internationale show in Saarbrücken, Duitsland. James en ik reisden de vorige dag al af naar ons hotel, want het was meer dan 5 uur rijden. We deelden een auto en een hotelkamer met Daniëlle en haar Australian Shepherd Maylo (Tearaway's Fire and Ice). We sliepen in het Mercure Hotel Saarbrücken Süd, dat slecht vijf minuten van het tentoonstellingsgebouw lag. We hadden een goed verblijf in dit hondvriendelijke hotel! Zondag waren we pas in de middag aan de beurt. James was ingeschreven in de kampioensklasse en deed zijn best. Hij kreeg 1 uitmuntend, CAC, CACIB en werd Beste van het Ras onder keurmeester mw. Molinari (P)! Met deze overwinning kreeg James de titel Saarlandsieger '12! Ze gaf hem het volgende keurrapport: uitmuntend type, correct hoofd, zou donkerdere ogen mogen hebben, uitmuntende belijning, correcte borstdiepte, uitmuntende bovenbelijning, goed aangezette staart, beweging erg sound, CAC, CACIB, BOB, Saarlandsieger '12! Wij hadden een fantastische eerste dag!

Obedience trial in Schiedam

On Saturday, May 19, I entered James for his very first obedience trial outside. It was a lovely day, beautiful weather, but much too hot for my black dog... However, in our first round James did a lovely recall and we didn't lose any points on that, but his heelwork and retrieve weren't good. He was very distracted by everything around him. This was the same in our second round, but it was a great way to get him used to performing on an outside event. The rest of the hot day we spent in Yvette's tent, together with Golden Retriever Rowan and Stabyhoun Taro. We placed second in prebeginners today and fourth in beginners and I'm still proud of him of course!

Zaterdag 19 mei 2012 had ik James ingeschreven voor zijn eerste obedience wedstrijd buiten. Het was een prachtige dag, maar veel te warm voor mijn zwarte hond... Toch liet James een prachtige recall (voorkomen) zien in ons eerste rondje en verloren we daar geen punten op, maar zijn heelwork (volgwerk) en retrieve (apport) waren niet netjes. Hij was erg afgeleid door alles om hem heen. Dit bleef zo in ons tweede rondje, maar het was een goede training om hem te leren dat hij ook bij dit soort buiten evenementen zijn best moet doen. De rest van de dag brachten we door in Yvette's tent, samen met Golden Retriever Rowan en Friese Stabij Taro. Vandaag werden we tweede in de prebeginners en vierde in de beginners en natuurlijk ben ik nog steeds trots op hem!

After-beach-routine

James has a special routine when we make a morning beach walk. When we come back, first stop is the bench outside where I always clean him. That's not an easy task; he's always covered in sand and that's very sticky due to the saltness of the sea water... When he's somewhat clean, he can go inside where he stops to drink some fresh water. Then he walks over to the couch, jumps and let his body rest in a strange position :) One can't understand how that's comfortable! When he's finished with his beauty nap, he jumps off the couch and walks to the window, where he let his head rests against it as if he wants to say: that was a nice morning!

James heeft een speciale routine wanneer we 's ochtends een strandwandeling gemaakt hebben. Als we terugkomen, moet hij eerst op de bank buiten waar ik hem altijd schoon maak. Dat gaat nog niet zo makkelijk; hij zit altijd helemaal onder het zand door het rollen en dat is erg plakkerig door het zoute zeewater... Als hij een beetje schoon is, mag hij naar binnen om vervolgens een stop te maken bij de drinkbak voor wat vers water. Daarna loopt hij verder naar de bank, springt erop en gaat liggen in de meest vreemde posities :) Niemand die begrijpt hoe dat comfortabel kan liggen! Als hij klaar is met zijn schoonheidsslaapje springt hij van de bank af en loopt naar de schuifpui, waar hij lekker gaat liggen met zijn hoofd tegen het glas alsof hij wil zeggen: dat was een fijne ochtend!

Kayleigh Dutch Junior Champion!

On May 17, James' daughter Floatin' Kara Kardashan "Kayleigh" competed at the Sheepdog Specialty. She gained her third junior CAC in a row under mrs. Lochs-Roman (NL)! With this win she is now Dutch Junior Champion! She finished in style by winning Best Bitch also! I'm very proud of her. Congratulations to Phil Bitter & Wilna Wouters who bred and own Kayleigh.

Op 17 mei 2012 deed James' dochter Floatin' Kara Kardashan "Kayleigh" mee aan de Joe Kat Show in Arnhem, een speciale show voor alleen herdershonden. Ze won haar derde jeugd CAC op een rij onder mw. Lochs-Roman (NL)! Met deze overwinning is ze nu Nederlands Jeugd Kampioen! Ze sloot deze winst mooi af door ook nog Beste Teef te worden! Ik ben erg trots op haar. Gefeliciteerd Phil Bitter & Wilna Wouters, de fokkers en eigenaren van Kayleigh.

It's weekend!

And weekend means fun! Especially when the weather cooperates and it's even warm enough to spend a couple of hours sitting at the beach. The tourist season hasn't started yet, so we got to enjoy a few very quiet days there! While James can't think of anything else he likes more than the beach, afterwards it's nice to dream about all the adventures!

En weekend betekent plezier! Vooral wanneer het weer meewerkt en het zelfs warm genoeg is om een paar uurtjes op het strand te zitten. Het toeristenseizoen is nog niet begonnen, dus konden we nog een paar heel rustige dagen daar doorbrengen! Terwijl James niets anders kan bedenken dat hij leuker vindt dan het strand, nadien is het ook erg fijn om te dromen over alle avonturen!
